Hyaluronic acid is skin´s own humectant and filling substance. As we age Hyaluronic Acid is deceasing as the natural production is lower while the degradation is higher. As a result lines and wrinkles start to form and deepen. Formulas with Hyaluronic Acid hydrate and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluron is synthesized by epidermal keratinocytes and dermal fibroblasts and composed of polysaccharidemolecules mainly responsible for holding water in the skin and keep it firm and plump.
Hyaluronic Acid of high molecular weight (ca. 2,000kDa) can bind high amounts of water and functions as moisturizer in upper cell layers smoothening fine wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid of low molecular weight (ca. 52kDa) penetrates into epidermal skin layers, activates skin’s own hyaluronansynthesis and activates cell proliferation.
